As the Feb. numbers roll in, two stalwart CBS programs show marked improvement

CBS Sunday Morning has best Feb. in total viewers since '94; CBS Evening News has most viewers and households since '07

The numbers for the February sweeps nationally continue to be made known, and two of CBS' stalwart shows — CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood and the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley — each had their best results in years.

CBS Sunday Morning, which averaged 5.93 million viewers for the month, was the #1 network morning show on Sunday in February.  That's up 8% from last year and the show's best viewer number since 1994.

Meanwhile, on weekday evenings, the CBS Evening News continues to grow.  With Scott Pelley in the anchor chair, the perennial third-place newscast has made significant gains while its competitors at ABC and NBC have lost ground.  And indeed, that's the case this time, too, as the program's total viewership number (7.23 million people) was an 8% increase over last year and the best turnout since 2007.

Both programs were also up substantially among adults ages 25-54 as well as total households.
