LOUISVILLE: WLKY launching 10 p.m. newscast tonight

If you'd like to catch WLKY's news late in the evening but don't have the stamina to hold out until 11 p.m. ET, starting tonight, you won't have to.

Louisville's CBS affiliate is launching a new newscast at 10 p.m. ET on Me-TV Louisville (ch. 32.2).  As the station says, it's the same team you trust at 11, just one hour earlier.

WLKY's newscast is the latest to join the early-late (or is it late-early?) newscast game, joining longtime veteran WDRB and WBKI, which airs a 10 p.m. 'cast that's still produced by WHAS11.

Viewers can find the new WLKY 10 p.m. newscast on over-the-air channel 32.2 or Insight/Time Warner Cable) channel 188.

So what is the deal with WBKI continuing to air WHAS 11 News at 10? WDRB News at 7 on WBKI started tonight, but now at 10, surprise, the WHAS news is on WBKI! Seems awful strange to see two separate news products airing on one station...

I'm not entirely sure, Steven ... my best guess is that there is a contract between WHAS and WBKI that must be honored. I wouldn't expect it to last too much longer, but haven't been able to gather any specifics.

I think the WBKI/WHAS relationship ends later this month.
