UPDATED: NEWS 25 meteorologist Scott Dimmich leaving, will become weekend meteorologist at Cincinnati CBS affiliate

UPDATE, 3:50 p.m. WEDNESDAY:  WKRC has issued a press release on the hiring of Scott Dimmich.  You can read it in its entirety below.

WEHT-NEWS 25 morning meteorologist Scott Dimmich has announced that he is leaving the station on Nov. 4.

Dimmich, who joined WEHT in March 2009, will be heading up the river to Cincinnati, where he will become the weekend meteorlogist at CBS affiliate WKRC-Local 12.  He is a native of the Cincinnati area, so the move is a return home.

"It's tough to leave my colleagues and friends in the Tri-State, but I'm looking forward to taking what I've learned back to my hometown," Dimmich said.  "It has been a pleasure to work at NEWS 25 and call the Tri-State my home for the last two and a half years. I'm going to miss working with a lot of people here, especially the weather team."

A Penn State University graduate, Dimmich received his Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) accreditation from the American Meteorological Society in June 2010, making NEWS 25 the only local station with a fully-certified weather team.

Prior to coming to NEWS 25, he worked at WYMT-TV in Hazard, Ky., and was a meteorologist for Weather World, a live, nightly weather magazine produced by the Penn State Department of Meteorology.

Local 12 News, Cincinnati’s number one news organization, is adding a new member to The Weather Authority Team.  Cincinnati native Scott Dimmich will join the Local 12 team of meteorologists beginning the week of November 7, 2011.

Scott Dimmich comes to Cincinnati from Evansville, Indiana. He is the weekday morning meteorologist at WEHT-TV.  Dimmich will be the Local 12 News weekend meteorologist on Saturday and Sunday evenings.  Local 12 News Director Kirk Varner said, “We're happy to have a native son in Scott Dimmich returning to the Tri-State, to become an important part of The Weather Authority team.  He is a very talented meteorologist who knows the challenges of forecasting our local weather."

Scott is no stranger to the Local 12 family. He interned in the weather department while attending Penn State University.  Dimmich has worked as an on-air meteorologist for Weather World, a statewide science magazine in Pennsylvania and as the weekday meteorologist at WYMT-TV in Hazard, KY. Scott said, “I made the decision to come back to Cincinnati because it is and will always be my true home. Since leaving Cincinnati to go to college years ago, I've lived in three different states, but I've never felt more at home than when I'm in Cincinnati. I'm proud to call Cincinnati my hometown, and I'm honored to be part of the Tri-State community and Local 12 team.”

Scott Dimmich’s talent combined with his familiarity of Tri-state weather is a great match with the number one weather department at Local 12.  Tune in to Local 12 News weekends to see Meteorologist Scott Dimmich, beginning the week of November 7th.
