Terre Haute's soon-to-be ABC affiliate shows off new logo, announces news changes

Terre Haute's WFXW-Fox 38 is just a little more than a month away from becoming an ABC affiliate, but the station is already rolling out its new logo and explaining to viewers what they can expect from the new WAWV ABC.

Those changes can be seen on WAWV's new Facebook page, and also in a letter written by Tim Sturgess, vice-president and general manager of WTWO-NBC 2 and WAWV.

"September 1st marks an exciting time for all of us at WAWV as we launch the all-new WAWV, ABC for the Wabash Valley on channel 38," Sturgess wrote.  "Since 1973, this television station has been providing local news, information and entertainment to viewers in the Wabash Valley.  From 1973-1995, the station served as the Valley’s ABC affiliate. So, you could say that we are returning to our roots.  This change only affirms our commitment to bringing the Wabash Valley the best that network TV has to offer."

For some in the northernmost portion of the Tri-State, WAWV will become an additional ABC choice, as Evansville's WEHT-NEWS 25 is also offered on many cable systems along the U.S. 50 corridor.

In the news department, WAWV will make some changes.  Starting on Sept. 1, the "Live at Five" newscast which currently airs on WTWO-NBC 2 will move to WAWV, and will be anchored by Tom McClanahan.  Also, the station's current 10:00 PM (Eastern time) newscast will move from on-air to online, streamed live at

And, of course, Fox 38's syndicated programming will continue, bolstered by the ABC program lineup.  With 11 hours of programming in high definition airing each day, viewers will see more HD on channel 38 than they ever have before.

There will be more to come, and I'll tell you about it as things are announced.
