Reporting from West Louisville, Ky. - Three and a half months after the FCC canceled Roberts Broadcasting's construction permit for WAZE-DT CW19 (channel 19.1), I was surprised to discover upon arriving at Diamond Lake tonight that the station is on the air.
And not only is it still broadcasting (or, perhaps, resumed operations at some point), the Madisonville-based station is apparently doing so without official approval. The only licensed entities that should be showing WAZE are analog channels 4, 5 and 17, which are all licensed to Evansville ... and I'm not even sure if 4 and 5 are operating.
If the FCC has not approved of WAZE-DT's operation - and as far as I can determine, there has been no such authorization - it could mean a substantial fine ($10,000 minimum) for Roberts Broadcasting.
I'll keep an eye on this situation and let you know what happens.
