14WFIE planning HD news launch on July 11, will add new 4PM newscast beginning Sept. 12

The wait is nearly over:  The Evansville market's first high-definition local newscast is set to debut on 14WFIE on Monday, July 11, says the station's news director, C.J. Hoyt.

"Our HD launch will be the 5pm newscast, barring any major issues that might emerge," Hoyt said, although he added, "circumstances could always force a change to the timeline."  He did say that he doesn't anticipate any further holdups.

In addition, Jackie Monroe will be the anchor of a new 4:00 PM newscast beginning September 12.  More information on staffing for this newest newscast will be forthcoming, Hoyt told me this afternoon.

14's new newscast will compete head-to-head with NEWS 25's 4:00 show, which debuted in September of last year.
